Here’s a classic reminder of his brilliance:
From Sky News:
Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll stars Andy Serkis, the actor best-known for playing Gollum in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy.
He told Sky News he is thrilled with the reception so far.
“The family came and watched the film after it was put together,” Serkis explained.
“And we got a lovely email from Ian’s daughter saying Ian would have loved this, and he would have sat there and laughed, and then coated you all off with great affection.
“So hopefully we’ve done him proud,” he added.
March will mark 10 years since Dury succumbed to cancer, after a brilliant career with The Blockheads, that produced hits like Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick and the classic album New Boots And Panties!!.
The movie charts the post-Punk years of the late 1970s as well as flashbacks to Dury’s Polio-addled childhood.
Serkis’ performance has already won him a British Independent Film Award nomination.

From product website:
A great conversation piece for the wannabe wise guy who has everything, and whose wife won’t let them own a revolver. For that matter, something for the authentic wise guy with a soft side for the well being of animals. A great home theatre accessory as a tough guy’s Teddy bear, aimed squarely at those with a diabolical sense of humor. Fans of the mob’s harsh brand of communication can now unite and rest comfortably, if not uneasily. Send someone a message they will never forget without the risk of facing prison time for it.

An interesting article by Adam Savage (MythBusters) on the sci-fi classic.
I’m still such a big Blade Runner fan that I watch it at least once every 18 months. I also own pretty convincing replicas of the “blade runner blaster” wielded by Harrison Ford’s world-weary former cop Rick Deckard. The source material was a Steyr Mannlicher .222 target rifle magazine cover, with a Bulldog .44 carriage underneath. I can’t get enough of this prop. Now, I want a working one.

From The Irish Independent:
NO, that’s not ageing rock star Alice Cooper.
Hollywood actor Sean Penn appeared in lipstick and eyeliner yesterday to play a Goth rockstar on the streets of Dublin.
In ‘This Must Be The Place’, the 50-year-old takes on the role of a music legend living out his retirement in the city.
The cameras rolled on Upper Mount Street as film-makers simulated a blaze in one of the thoroughfare’s elegant Georgian houses.
But the red that caught most people’s eyes was on Penn’s lips: his goth musician ‘Cheyenne’ wearing red lipstick and black eyeliner as he pulled a trolley behind him past the fire.
Bono’s daughter, actress Eve Hewson, is among the cast, playing a music fan who befriends Penn’s character.
Produced by Dublin company Element Pictures, ‘This Must be The Place’ has a budget of €21m but received €500,000 funding from the Irish Film Board.
It is being filmed in Dublin, New York, Detroit and New Mexico and is directed by Paolo Sorrentino, an Oscar nominee in 2008 for his film ‘Il Divo’.
