The Acadiana Center for the Arts is looking for volunteers to help staff the inaugural Gulf Brew beer-tasting festival, to be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 14 in downtown Lafayette. The festival features samples from breweries across the Gulf South, as well as activities for children.

In exchange for working a two-hour shift, volunteers — ages 21 or older — will get one “Taster Ticket” good for 15 three-ounce samples from the participating breweries. Volunteers also get free draft beer at the end of their shift. Gulf Brew is modeled in the style of Germany’s Oktoberfest.

Participating breweries include Saint Arnold Brewing Co. of Houston; Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co., Kiln, Miss.; Abita Brewing Co., Abita Springs; and Zea Brewery, Metairie. Lafayette’s own beer-brewing club, the Dead Yeast Society, will participate.
