Coke secrets plot woman is jailed
Coca-Cola's recipe has been a trade secret for 120 years A former secretary at Coca-Cola has been sentenced to eight years in prison for plotting to steal the company's secrets and sell them to rival Pepsi. Joya Williams, 42, was sentenced in Atlanta - Coca Cola's home - after being found guilty in February. Then the court heard she stole confidential documents and samples of new products, passing them to two men to sell to Pepsi for at least $1.5m. Co-conspirator Ibrahim Dimson received a jail term of five years. Both he and another man, Edmund Duhaney, had pleaded guilty.

Fast Food: Ads vs. Reality Each item was purchased, taken home, and photographed immediately. Nothing was tampered with, run over by a car, or anything of the sort. It is an accurate representation in every case. Shiny, neon-orange, liquefied pump-cheese, and all.

Clever bit of outdoor advertising, not only are you reaching your market (drivers) but by taking up valuable parking spaces, make an impression on them.
Parking spaces in the Grand Gateway in Shanghai were blocked out in December and January. Pedestals and notices told motorists the spots were reserved with the message: "This parking lot is left for our Roewe owners only."

Sex sells. Parted lips, rapid breathing, and throaty moans—audiovisuals like these move more moisture-rich shampoo than any clever catchphrase ever could. No wonder it’s so tough to tell the difference between an actor conveying the transcendental goodness of Cool Ranch Doritos and a porn hamming it up for the climax in Flesh Hunter 3. Take a look at these close-ups and see if you can figure out who’s pushing cream rinse and who’s shooting for a big finish.

From the Sun:
PAGANS have pledged to perform “rain magic” to wash away cartoon character Homer Simpson who was painted next to their famous fertility symbol - the Cerne Abbas giant. The 17th century chalk outline of the naked, sexually aroused, club-wielding giant is believed by many to be a symbol of ancient spirituality.
Many couples also believe the 180ft giant, which is carved in the hillside above Cerne Abbas, Dorset, is an aid to fertility.
A giant 180ft Homer Simpson brandishing a doughnut was painted next to the well-endowed figure today in a publicity stunt to promote The Simpsons Movie released later this month.
It has been painted with water-based biodegradable paint which will wash away as soon as it rains.
Ann Bryn-Evans, joint Wessex district manager for The Pagan Federation, said: “It’s very disrespectful and not at all aesthetically pleasing.
“We were hoping for some dry weather but I think I have changed my mind. We’ll be doing some rain magic to bring the rain and wash it away.”
She added: “I’m amazed they got permission to do something so ridiculous. It’s an area of scientific interest.”
She also expressed fears that the painting of Homer, from the animated television series The Simpsons, would cause a mess as it washed away.
During the Second World War, he was disguised to prevent the Germans from using him as an aerial landmark.
Since then he has always been visible, receiving regular grass trimming and a full re-chalking every 25 years.

So you think you know the McDonald's menu like the back of your hand? Think again. From McDonald's international, here are some menu items you have probably never tried before.
Good morning, welcome to McDonald's. May I have your order please?
In India, there are no Big Macs because the Hindu people don't eat beef.
However, they have the Maharaja Mac, which is a Big Mac made of lamb or chicken meat. There is also a vegetarian burger, the McAloo Tikki.

In fish-loving Norway, they have the McLaks, a sandwich made of grilled salmon and dill sauce.

It's bottoms up in Germany, where McDonald's serves beer!

In parts of Canada, have a lobster dinner with the McLobster lobster roll. Pardon me - "McHomard" (in French).

Japan totally reinvents McDonald's with its Ebi Filet-O (shrimp burgers), Koroke Burger (mashed potato, cabbage and katsu sauce, all in a sandwich), Ebi-Chiki (shrimp nuggets) and Green Tea-flavored milkshake!

In Chile, you can dress your burgers with - not ketchup - avocado paste!

In Costa Rica, unsurprisingly, you can order Gallo Pinto, meaning rice and beans.

It's not Greek without pita, so when in Greece, have a Greek Mac, a burger made of patties wrapped in pita.

Rice-loving Hong Kong, has - of course - Rice Burgers, where the burgers are in between, not burger buns, but two patties of glutinous rice.

In Israel, McDonald's has 3 kosher restaurants where cheeseburger and dairy products are not served because Jewish Law forbids serving "the child [cow/beef] in its mother's milk [dairy]." They have McShawarma, meat in a pita bread roll.

In Uruguay, they have the McHuevo, which is like a regular hamburger, but it is topped with a poached egg.

How many metaphors and sexual innuendos can you get?
From Brentter.com's advertising blog:
I’m surprised Steve Hall from Adrants hasn’t already snagged this spot for Sky Television’s Fresh TV - one of New Zealand’s adult television programs. It’s pretty funny and I dare you to try and find all of the metaphors used in the 1:10 promo. Hint: As the ending tagline reminds us, “Think Filthy.” I was only able to recognize 16, but there were a few items that I was unable to identify.
If you’re at work I can assure you that this piece is SFW, however I guess that depends on what industry you happen to be in. There’s nothing even close to nudity, but I have to warn you that you get to hear banter like:
(Man walks up to bar)
“Man: Hey love, I’ll have a little hand shandy please.
(Bartender brings him an overflowing beer)
Bartender: Ooo, Sorry about the head.
Man: Nah, that’s great. Nice beef curtains.
(Camera pans behind bartender to show the cow-print curtains leading into kitchen)
Bartender: Thanks.”
This jovial look at sexual innuendos was brought to us by DDB, New Zealand and was directed by Nic Finlayson from Film Construction, Auckland. Regan Grafton & Bridget Short were the Creative Directors for DDB (where Toby Talbot resides as ECD) and was produced by Phil Liefting.
The micro-site for the “Think Filthy” campaign is currently hosting a “Be Back Soon” image, but you can view accompanying print pieces, all featuring various sexual metaphors, here: Pub, Cottage, Farm.

The Twingo. Little did its creators know it would become the cause of so much marital strife
From article:
Hundreds of angry Dutch women have complained to car manufacturer Renault after receiving handwritten letters purporting to come from a unknown admirer who called them "darling", suggested meeting soon for a drink and signed themselves "lots of love, M".
Some 30,000 letters were sent out - and Renault is now writing 30,000 apologies.
The letter was in fact part of an advertising campaign for a new version of their car, the Twingo, to be launched next month in the Netherlands where it has proved a particularly big seller.

Titled Everlasting Love, Virgin's print, internet and TV ads reveal octogenarian orgies in the bedroom, shower and even a back garden.
The elderly couples are real and the images - one of Aleme and Osman Gjolej in the shower using only the "hand bra" to cover themselves - are confronting.
Always the masters of shock, the Virgin campaign was created to promote a new loan rewards program. The TV ad, split into PG and M-rated versions, shows Bill and Glenys Henderson ripping off their clothes before doing the dirty behind a well-placed gum tree.
Launched at the Hilton Hotel yesterday, another elderly couple loved it up in a bubble bath as Virgin Home Loans CEO David Wakeley extolled the virtues of life-long relationships, which mortgages often are.
The mortgage gives customers a 0.1 per cent cut in their rate after three years and a second 0.1 per cent cut after five years - cutting Virgin's standard variable loan from 7.59 per cent to 7.39 per cent, provided the RBA's cash rate remains stable.

Vandals’ cruel handiwork went unseen at Wood Green bus depot as it was not visible at street level.

A DOUBLE-decker is driven through London’s streets yesterday — carrying an obscene jibe about Mayor Ken Livingstone on its roof.

He said: “Everyone dashed to the window. It was hilarious.”
Red Ken has been blamed for axing the famous Routemaster buses.

Hal Riney, the San Francisco advertising man whose iconic and memorable work helped establish the city as an important creative center for the industry and a magnet for major accounts, died of cancer in his San Francisco home Monday. He was 75.
Whether his client was an automobile manufacturer, a company selling wine coolers or the committee to re-elect President Ronald Reagan, no one could put as graceful a spin on Americana as could Hal Riney. He made likable, engaging advertising in a career of nearly 50 years.
He is best remembered for creating the brand - and the outside-Detroit image - of General Motors' Saturn automobiles, but he may be equally famous for creating the codgers Frank Bartles and Ed Jaymes, who sing the praises of the Gallo wine cooler that bore their names. In 1984, he created "Morning in America," the soft-textured, 60-second memorable montages of Americana, telling stories of swelling national pride, making people comfortable about re-electing Reagan.
These advertising campaigns and many more had a unique and relaxed western feeling to them, and stood in relief to so much in a New York-dominated industry. In the process, Riney ads prompted marketers to pay attention to the San Francisco ad scene.
Before Riney, the legendary Howard Gossage had established San Francisco's ad industry roots. Riney proteges Jeff Goodby and Rich Silverstein, who started with Riney doing "Billy Ball" ads for the Oakland A's, left in the spring of 1983 to establish one of the country's top tier agencies and encourage the next generation of San Francisco creative advertising people.
"He created an atmosphere and body of work that attracted the highest level of creative people outside New York," said Goodby, co-founder of Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco. "Some would say higher."
From AdFreak:
People in Chicago must be starving after the long, cold winter there, as they have ravaged this bus-shelter ad from ampm convenience stores to retrieve the snacks inside. Ogilvy put the ad up with the idea of slowly taking the snacks away over a four-week period, to reveal the tagline, “Too much good stuff.” Area vandals shortened the campaign’s run to two days. Curiously, they didn’t seem to like the Doritos much.

The redecorated train, which features a colorful exterior, bright upholstery and fancy curtains, will carry passengers in style until May 6.

San FranciscoDear Shareholders and Clients,
The Billboard Liberation Front has partnered with Wachovia to release a daring advertising campaign that celebrates Wachovia’s new money management strategy. This campaign emphasizes the silver lining in the economic storm front now threatening to swamp our economy as well as our individual fiscal inner tubes.
“The calamitous decline in the value of all investments and the impending total collapse of the dollar will render the true value of the average savings account or investment portfolio roughly equal to a bucket of warm piss," noted Thomas J. Wurtz, CFO of Wachovia. Dr. John Silvia, Managing Director and Chief Economist noted: “After that golden shower we got from Golden West, we decided to fight fire with fire and start bailing for our clients and stockholders, mixed metaphors notwithstanding.”
This dramatic revaluation of your money has created the opportunity for our team at Wachovia to offer a unique service to our stockholders and clients. “With what promises to be the coldest winter in years now commencing, we’ve instructed our staff in all 21 States that we have offices in to start bundling greenbacks into tight rolls, perfect for small stoves and furnaces,” said Robert K. Steel CEO and President. “We believe this is the soundest application of our clients’ money.”

The new Museum of London logo first appears to be a collation of current logo design trends, but with deeper inspection and research the underlying meaning of the logo is discovered. The organic shapes that make up the logo represent the history of London, showing its growth over time expanding geographically.
Another logo that plays in representational symbols while relating heavily to the brand name is the Schizonphrenic logo. Being a medical disorder that often depicts split personalities the logo characterises this with simple shapes that depict a happy and sad face.

A new TV ad made using 200 camcorders has landed itself a Guinness World Record.
The commercial for Toshiba's range of HD products was shot using the "bullet-time" technique, as seen in sci-fi movie The Matrix, starring Keanu Reeves.
The technique freezes the shot, while circling the freeze-frame.
The advert was filmed using a custom-built, 360-degree rig of Toshiba Gigashot handheld cameras.
The shoot used up 20,000Gb of hard disk space and took over 336 hours for computers to process.
Those stats helped earn it a world record for incorporating the most moving image cameras used in a composite film shot.

From The Telegraph:
The 22-year-old student at the University of Central Lancashire spray painted a battered Skoda Fabia to match the car park and entrance to her art studio.
Her work, created as part of her drawing and image making course at the university, creates the illusion that the car is see through.
She was given the car from a breakers yard and worked for three weeks to ensure that it blended perfectly with its surroundings.
"I was experimenting with the whole concept of illusion but needed something a bit more physical to make a real impact." said Miss Watson, who is from Ashton under Lyne.
"People have been stopping in the street to look and coming up and almost bumping into it, so it's had the desired effect."
The car is reminiscent of the work by pavement artist Julian Beever, whose attempts to trick people's minds into seeing perspective on the flat surfaces of paving stones.
Steve Jackson, owner of Recycling Lives, the firm that gave Miss Watson the car, said: "When I first saw the photos I was convinced it was something which had been done on the computer, but when you look more closely you see the effort and attention to detail she has put into it. It is just amazing."
