Dancing With Audrey
I say dancing but it was actually more like tripping or flirting.
I’ve been working on this illustration of Audrey Hepburn over the last week. The reference I had for her was a nice enough photograph but the white seamless roll as a background left me thinking about something less banal. So rather than toss these experiments I’d thought I’d share the insanity of the process with you.
A 60’s-esque floral pattern was the first idea I had, she was so pretty and in all my mental images of her—dating from the early 60’s—she elegantly personified femininity. I already had my palette of soft navys, muted purples and pinky grays. So what do? With illustrator I make all my brushes and had been waiting for an opportunity to experiment with some gritty scatter ones I had been thinking about. The photos can take it from here.
The first few pictures show the basic art I started with and the rest are, well, me just dancing happily with Audrey.
